HQ: Austin, Texas, United States
Active Markets: United States
Problem Addressed
According to GenRAIT, 80% of a scientist’s time is spent on data management, leaving only 20% for analysis leading to scientific breakthroughs and innovations. Additionally, data storage needs in bioscience has increased dramatically in the last 20 years, and access to important genomic data is often paywalled or otherwise made inaccessible to researchers.
Project Description
GenRAIT provides a platform that uses decentralized blockchain storage infrastructure to increase capacity and access to genomic data. GenRAIT’s end-to-end platform for decentralized data storage and built-in machine-learning data analysis suite unifies the genomic research data ecosystem. GenRAIT ensures scientists retain autonomy of data, while increasing cost effectiveness and efficiency in access to data by leveraging public blockchain infrastructure.
Progress to date
GenRAIT was founded in 2021 to host over 100 terabytes of genome research data stored on the Filecoin network.
Business Model
GenRAIT charges fees for data storage.
